Ford Plans Recall of 700,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Co. said Monday it is recalling 703,000 of its 1996 to 1998 Ford Contours and Mercury Mystiques because of possible taillight and instrument panel problems.

In some of the affected vehicles, electrical terminals at the headlight switch wiring harness connector may be damaged by overheating, the auto maker said.

There have been no reports of accidents or injuries.
