Van Nuys Couple Die in Apparent Murder-Suicide
A married couple died of gunshots in what appeared to be a murder-suicide that neighbors may have overheard but chose to ignore, police said Wednesday.
Police summoned to the couple’s apartment in the 14600 block of Burbank Boulevard at about 3:30 p.m. found Soon Jin, 51, and her husband, Chun Jin, 52, dead of multiple gunshot wounds, according to Det. Stephen Fisk of the LAPD’s Van Nuys Division.
“Neighbors heard arguing and gunshots Tuesday night,” Fisk said. “Nobody called police. They didn’t want to get involved.”
The pair had two sons who recently moved out of the Van Nuys apartment, Fisk said. The parents had been experiencing marital problems, he said.
The sister of the dead woman called police about noon Wednesday after the woman failed to show up for work, Fisk said.
After no one came to the door, the sister returned several hours later with the apartment manager, and they found the couple dead, police said.
