Alston Takes Cerplex Finance Post

* Richard Alston has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Cerplex Group Inc. in Tustin. Prior to joining Cerplex, Alston co-founded Compass International Services Corp., an accounts receivable management company, where he served as chief financial officer and executive vice president of corporate development. He has also held several executive-level positions with National Processing Inc., Sealy Manufacturing, Alco Enterprises, and Continental Illinois National Bank.

* Thomas T. Marshall has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president of land operations for Catellus Residential Group’s community development division in Irvine. Marshall was formerly vice president of land acquisition in the company’s merchant housing division. Prior to joining Catellus in 1996, he was vice president of land acquisition for the South Coast division of Greystone Homes in Newport Beach.

* Kevin E. Brooks has been appointed interim chief financial officer for ObjectShare Inc. in Irvine. He succeeds Glenn J. Brown, who has been named to the newly created position of vice president of operations and administration. Brooks was most recently ObjectShare’s vice president of finance, a position he held since joining the company in 1998. He previously served as the Los Angeles business manager for Sprint PCS. Prior to joining ObjectShare in 1997, Brown was vice president and general manager of North and South American aerospace customer support operations for Lucas Varity.

* David J. Simkin has been appointed regional vice president, commercial loans for Eldorado Bank. He will be based in the Newport-Irvine branch. Simkin was formerly vice president and manager of the headquarters branch of Marine National Bank in Irvine.

* Jose de la Torre-Bueno has been named vice president of research and development for ChromaVision Medical Systems Inc. in San Juan Capistrano. He joined the company last year as senior applications engineer.

* Laurie Wodiske has been appointed executive vice president of Merit Property Management Inc, in Mission Viejo. She had been vice president. Wodiske joined the company in 1985 as an account executive.

* Robertson K. Chandler has been appointed senior vice president of operations for ARV Assisted Living Inc. in Costa Mesa. He will oversee the company’s three regional operating divisions in 11 states. He joined ARV from Mariner Specialty Health Services in Longmont, Colo., where he was vice president of operations, home care and hospice, since 1997.

* Raymond W. Vickers has joined Irvine-based Edison Mission Energy, an Edison International company, as senior vice president and general counsel. Vickers previously was a partner in the Los Angeles office of the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

* Larry Nielsen has been named director of finance for American IC Exchange in Aliso Viejo. He was formerly vice president of finance for Elasco, a polyurethane manufacturing company.

* Sean Foley has been named Bank of America’s small business banking area executive, responsible for sales and relationship management for small business customers in Orange County and the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Foley had been regional sales manager for business banking in Orange County for three years.

* Judy L. Klein has been made a partner in the Irvine office of Heidrick & Struggles, an executive search firm. She is a member of the industrial and informational technology practices. Before joining the firm, Klein spent 16 years with General Electric Co.

* Robert A. Burton, Herbert J. Friedman and K. James McTaggart have been promoted to executive vice president from senior vice president at Krause’s Furniture Inc. in Brea. Burton is chief financial officer, Friedman is in charge of merchandising, product development, marketing and stores, and McTaggart is in charge of manufacturing and distribution. In addition, Thomas J. Beale was promoted to senior vice president from vice president. Beale is in charge of stores.

* Greg Jackson has been appointed general manager of Dave & Buster’s in Irvine. He oversees food and beverage operations, guest relations and a staff of more than 250 at the location in the Irvine Spectrum Center. Jackson succeeds Mike Theriot, who moved to the San Antonio facility. Before joining Dave & Buster’s in 1994, Jackson was manager for Pizzeria Numero Uno in Langhorn, Penn.

* Maria Martinico has been appointed senior associate at the Newport Beach office of Gensler, an architecture, design and planning firm. She joined Gensler in 1987 and serves as director of staffing and recruiting, chairman of the quality committee, coordinator of the internship program and a CAD trainer.
