4 Arrested in $100,000 Vandalism Rampage
Four teenagers, believed to have caused more than $100,000 in damage during a five-week vandalism rampage, were arrested by police Sunday morning in a normally tranquil neighborhood where 20 mailboxes were uprooted from curbside concrete mounts and hurled through the windows of homes or parked vehicles.
Victor Y. Sarvis, 18, of Santa Ana, and three Tustin High School students--two of them 16 and the other 17--were arrested by Orange police summoned to the scene by residents awakened by crashing sounds around 3:30 a.m. The suspects, who were yanking a mailbox from the ground, fled but were caught after a brief car chase, officials said.
