Ventura resident Pauline B. Schepers died Sunday at Community Memorial Hospital. She was 73.

Schepers was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Manchester, N.H. She met her husband-to-be at a dance in her home state and married him in 1946.

Schepers and her husband lived in Michigan before coming to California in the late 1950s.

The couple first moved to Hollywood to live in a warmer climate and to be closer to Samuel Schepers’ job as an accountant at the Dolly Madison Co. The couple also lived in Glendale and Burbank, before moving to Camarillo in 1978.

While in Burbank, Schepers worked as a receptionist for the Automobile Club of Southern California.

In the early 1980s, the couple moved to Ventura, where Schepers continued to work for the auto club. She retired from the club’s Ventura office in 1990.

“She always had respect for the auto club. She really liked her job and the people she worked with,” said her daughter, Sharon Weber.

Schepers and her husband enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. They also traveled several times to Hawaii.

“My mother was a devoted wife to my father. She really put her family first, and she was a very devoted and loving grandparent and that was her life,” Weber said.

Samuel Schepers died Feb. 13.

Schepers is survived by two sons, Gary Schepers of Ventura and Ron Schepers of Brentwood, Tenn.; a daughter, Sharon Weber of Newbury Park; a brother, Hubert Begin of Manchester, N.H.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
