Warner Marketplace Readies for April Opening

West Valley shoppers will have a few more options next month when the doors open on the new Warner Marketplace, a 155,000-square-foot, $40-million shopping center taking shape on the northeast corner of Canoga Avenue and Victory Boulevard. Construction began last fall on the L-shaped center on land once owned by Rockwell International. It includes a two-story Bed, Bath & Beyond, a two-story Borders Books, a Good Guys electronics store and Zany Brainy, featuring imaginative toys for children.

Milt Swimmer, a partner in the development firm J.H. Snyder, said the center also will include a Sports Mart and Pier One Imports.

The area already has a Bookstar, a Nordstrom Rack and other shops on the southwest corner of Canoga and Victory. But Swimmer was not worried about attracting tenants to his property.

“When it reaches the point of saturation, there won’t be any more tenants who are interested,” said Swimmer, noting that the complex is more than 90% leased. “That’s really how it works.”
