Arraignment of the accused killer of a 450-pound biker was postponed until Tuesday because no public defender had been assigned to the case.

Daniel Ray Waring, 43, faces two counts of murder in the Dec. 8 slayings of Hells Angel Laurence Lajeunesse, 45, known as “Large Larry,” and his live-in girlfriend, Tammie Ann Brannigan.

Commissioner Richard L. Brand, bench officer for the hearing in the San Fernando Valley branch of the Los Angeles Municipal Court, agreed to a continuance requested by Mark Lassen, supervisor of the the public defender’s office, until a staff attorney could be assigned to the case.

The murder charges include special circumstances that there were multiple victims. A third charge, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, stems from four separate felony convictions dating back to 1976, which prohibits Waring from having a gun.

If convicted, Waring faces penalties ranging from life in prison without possibility of parole to death. The gun charge carries a sentence of 16 months to three years in prison, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Terry Bork.

The 6-foot-2 Lajeunesse was found shot in the back of the head in his bed in the back of the industrial garage in Chatsworth, where he lived and ran an auto dismantling business.

Brannigan, 35, was found shot in the head in an adjoining garage.

Police arrested Waring on Dec. 22 at his Lake Isabella residence.
