Web Offers a Peek at New ‘Star Wars’ Film

“Star Wars” fans who can’t wait for today’s theatrical release of the final trailer for the prequel to the famous movie series can get a sneak peek at https://www.apple.com or https://www.starwars.com right now.

Unlike the previous trailer for “Episode I: The Phantom Menace”--which many aficionados actually stood in line to see at theaters--this final marketing shot before the film blasts off May 19 offers a complete overview of the story line. “Star Wars” producer Lucasfilm and Apple Computer collaborated on producing the trailer for Internet consumption, using Apple’s QuickTime multimedia software.

But a little patience is still required, because the top-quality version of the 2 1/2-minute trailer, in stereo, can take up to two hours to download to a PC using the fastest standard modem connection most consumers enjoy. According to Lucasfilm, 10 million people downloaded the previous trailer.
