Hearing Scheduled on Proposed Roadwork

A proposed overcrossing of the 101 Freeway will be the subject of a public meeting Monday at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn.

The area in question is west of Universal City and south of Toluca Lake between Lankershim and Ventura boulevards, near where the Red Line subway station is being built.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is sponsoring the meeting to answer questions and collect comments on plans to demolish an offramp bridge and build a station-access road bridge and ramps to the 101.

The main concern would be noise caused by explosives that would be used to tear down the existing bridge. Levels would exceed Metropolitan Transportation Authority and city noise criteria. The noise is expected to last two nights.

The transportation authority has prepared an environmental-impact report, copies of which are available at the North Hollywood Regional Branch Library, 5211 Tujunga Ave., and at the LACMTA Library, One Gateway Plaza, 15th floor, Los Angeles.
