Anaheim Rallies in 7th to Beat Aliso Niguel, 12-11

Anaheim’s Danny Hernandez hit a game-tying two-run single in the bottom of the seventh, then scored on Tim Koenig’s single to give the host Colonists a 12-11 victory over Aliso Niguel in a consolation game of the Loara baseball tournament Friday.

Adriel Beltran hit his first home run for Anaheim (1-3).

Jaime Sandoval and Jason Martinez hit home runs for Aliso Niguel (1-3).

In other consolation games at the Loara tournament:

Irvine 8, Los Alamitos 5--Jon DeVries went three for three with a home run, double and two runs batted in for Irvine (3-1).

Santa Margarita 4, Savanna 1--Ryan Campeau had three hits and two RBIs for host Santa Margarita (3-1). Jason Meadows homered for Savanna (2-2).

In nonleague baseball:

St. Margaret’s 12, Cerritos Whitney 2 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Michael Narlinger went four for four with four RBIs, and T.C. Geach and Stewart Cahalan combined on a one-hitter for visiting St. Margaret’s (2-1).

In the Costa Mesa softball tournament:

La Quinta 8, Newport Harbor 2--Jamie Laird went three for four with a home run, her second, and two RBIs for La Quinta (4-1).

In nonleague softball:

Southern California Christian 12, La Verne Lutheran 2 (6, mercy)--Delci Huntley (2-1) pitched a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts and Morgan Dejoven had two hits and four RBIs for host SCC (2-1). Bethany Brown hit a three-run homer in SCC’s four-run first inning.

Villa Park 7, Loara 4--Melissa Rogers had a home run and two singles to go with her three RBIs to lead visiting Villa Park (5-0-1). Loara is 2-3.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

Canyon 10, Loara 8--Kevin Saman and Arjun Makam beat Loara’s No. 3 doubles team, 6-4, in the deciding match for visiting Canyon (4-1).

Esperanza 11, Foothill 7--Jeff Cohen swept in singles, 6-3, 6-1, 6-0, for Esperanza (3-3).

Laguna Hills 11, El Toro 7--Tim Lee and Mike Watson swept their doubles opponents, 6-3, 6-3, 6-0, for host Laguna Hills (3-2).

Marina 16, Costa Mesa 2--Alan Hoang swept in singles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, and Haig and Raffi Aharonian swept in doubles, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1, for Marina (1-2).

In nonleague boys’ volleyball:

Santa Ana 3, Santiago 1--Robert Cortez had 13 kills for host Santa Ana (3-0), which won, 15-8, 12-15, 15-7, 15-10.
