STAPLED IN?

Talks are still on to make Bruce Springsteen’s Los Angeles shows the official opening events for the Staples Center, which is being built downtown. The main issue seems to be a matter of timing.

Hopes are for the Boss to end his U.S. tour, scheduled to start in July, with two mid-October dates at Staples. It’s expected that he’ll also play shows in San Diego and another Southland site such as the Arrowhead Pond.

But sources close to the matter say Springsteen’s tour is set to end several weeks before the new arena will be open. Accommodating the new facility would mean stretching the trek out, an expensive prospect given the cost of keeping a crew for such a production available.
