Man Gets 39 Years in Fatal Domino’s Robbery
A man convicted of murder for being the lookout during a deadly Domino’s Pizza robbery in Eagle Rock was sentenced Monday to 39 years in prison.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Curtis Rappe sentenced Curry Dante Thomas, 21, of Pasadena, who was convicted last month of murder, robbery and burglary in the March 28, 1997, holdup.
His co-defendant, Darrell Lee Williams, 33, of Pasadena, had burst into the Domino’s Pizza and demanded money from Paul Chan, who worked at the restaurant, according to Sandi Gibbons of the district attorney’s office.
Williams pistol-whipped an employee, Mario Ocana, when he said he was unable to open the cash box or safe, Gibbons said. Williams shot Chan in the face after he also said he couldn’t open the safe, Gibbons said. Chan died of his wounds.
Sentencing is pending for Williams, who was convicted of murder with special circumstance and other charges.
