Fox Entertainment Group Inc., the film and television unit of News Corp., will combine its Fit TV cable channel with closely held America’s Health Network to create a new 24-hour health and fitness channel.

The channel, which has yet to be named, will reach more than 18 million U.S. homes through cable and satellite systems and also over the World Wide Web. Financial terms were not disclosed.

A separate joint venture, which Fox will manage, will oversee the Internet health site AHN.com and AHN’s Galaxy.com Internet directory. The channel will be based in Los Angeles, and the new venture’s Internet businesses will continue to operate out of Nashville.

Fit TV was founded by fitness celebrity Jake Steinfeld. It features shows such as “Yoga Zone” and “Power Living.” America’s Health, which is owned by AHN Partners, premiered three years ago and airs shows such as “Rescue 911” and “O.R.: Behind the Mask.”

AHN.com features live video of America’s Health Network and other health information. The site says it broadcast the first live birth on the Internet.

Management details, as well as programming and production information, will be announced later, Fox said.
