Opponents of the Treasure Island resort development plan on Tuesday accused supporters of misleading voters before the April 27 election. If approved, the resort would consist of 17 estate-style homes as well as a 275-room hotel. Members of the South Laguna Civic Assn. held a news conference Tuesday to rebut campaign literature claiming that a mobile-home park will be built at the site if the resort is rejected by voters. D. Dwight Worden, an attorney for the association, said that the City Council has already voiced its opposition to a mobile-home park and that California’s Coastal Act gives preference to recreational uses. Association member Ron Harris said the group would probably support the resort project if no homes are allowed and the hotel is scaled back.
