City officials soon will consider modifying the look of a new, turquoise-roofed snack bar that has some neighbors fuming. At a meeting last week, a divided City Council voted 3 to 2 to study the cost of repainting the roof of the concession building built on the new athletic fields at McPherson Magnet School. The city and some of the neighbors have been at odds since the $2.5-million project began in October 1997. City officials said they have already compromised on many issues, such as adding parking and restricting times of use for the park. The extra work added $200,000 to the cost of the project, they said. But some homeowners complain that the building is an eyesore and lowers their property values. The council will vote Tuesday on whether to make other adjustments to please residents. The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in City Hall, 300 E. Chapman Ave. Information: (714) 744-5500.
