Mayor Harry Dotson met with officials from the Orange County Housing Authority last week to appeal the county’s decision to deny a $15,000 grant to operate the Stanton Neighborhood Center on Santa Paula Street. He met with little success: The housing authority again denied the grant. Dotson will meet with members of county Supervisor Jim Silva’s staff today to find funding alternatives for the community center. “We’ll just revert to what we’ve always done: beg, borrow and steal,” Dotson said. “Somehow, we will meet the needs of the people.”
