Resident Eileen Asahi recently urged the school board to place the vocal music program--funded by the Fountain Valley School District Foundation and parent organizations--in the district’s curriculum. “I think the district should ultimately be the responsible party,” Asahi said. “We need to make sure music is an integral part of our education.”
Asahi requested that the board give the district ownership of the program, pay music teachers’ salaries from the general fund and make the program a part of the curriculum. The board asked staff to draft a report on how much it would cost to add the program to the curriculum.
