AML Communications to Lay Off 25 Workers
AML Communications in Camarillo says it will lay off 25 of its 92 employees as part of a downsizing strategy being implemented by new management.
The company expects to report a charge for severance and related outplacement costs during this quarter. AML officials said the reduction in staff, coupled with the implementation of other cost-saving measures, will save $1.5 million annually.
The downsizing follows a recently announced shift in senior management, which included the appointment of Kirk A. Waldron as president and chief executive officer.
“The reduced head count better supports our revenue flow and, in conjunction with the cost control actions taken, improves our cost structure and allows us to better manage overhead without impeding critical development efforts or customer support,” Waldron said. “With our strong cash position and reduced costs, the company [can] continue to pursue a newly implemented aggressive sales and marketing strategy.”
AML designs and manufactures amplifiers for the cellular, wireless, personal communications, paging and satellite communication markets.
