Traveling America

* Thanks to Al Martinez and to Megan Edwards and Mark Sedenquist for bringing back some very fond memories (“A Song of the Open Road,” March 19). Like Megan and Mark, we left our “stuff” and took a six-year sojourn (1977 to 1983) that we called our Odyssey. In traveling through 40 states we learned a lot about this extraordinary country and about ourselves. Our wondrous journey came to an end with a unique job that allowed us to help establish the U.S. Institute of Peace.

We’re back to the cluttered life, but we treasure our time on the road. We’ll be looking at scrapbooks this weekend.
