NEWPORT BEACH
City Council members approved four actions this week that they believe will go a long way toward changing the way the Planning Commission does business. The commission approved the same actions last week.
Under the new plan, commissioners will begin working on a comprehensive planning approach for Newport Center. The board will also conduct informal but open-to-the-public study sessions to allow for early input and review on major projects.
Commissioners will also develop a method for studying the interrelationships between Newport Center’s plan, the area surrounding John Wayne Airport and the coastal areas of the city, and review the city’s proposed Capital Improvement Program before council budget hearings.
