Irvine’s WL Homes Appoints Stelmar Finance Chief

Wayne Stelmar has been named chief financial officer of WL Homes LLC in Irvine, the company formed when John Laing Homes and Watt Homes merged in April. He was previously chief financial officer of Watt Residential Partners. Before that, Stelmar was chief financial officer for Watt Residential Inc. and a controller for Watt Industries Inc.

Tom O’Hern has joined the board of directors of the Abbey Co., a Garden Grove-based commercial real estate firm. He is executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Santa Monica-based Macerich Co.

Kendall Merkley has joined Corbin & Wertz in Irvine as a partner in the audit department. He was formerly with Arthur Andersen’s enterprise group in Los Angeles.

Richard Thunen has been named vice president, engineering, for Sync Research Inc. in Irvine. Thunen, who joined the company in 1992, has served in technical sales and marketing roles. Before joining Sync, he was vice president of product planning at Rabbit Software and vice president of strategic planning at Eagle Computer.

Tim Favazza was appointed U.S. director of sales. Favazza, who joined Sync in 1997, most recently served as Southeastern region area manager. His prior experience includes sales and management positions with General Data Comm, Memorex Telex, Intelicom Solutions and Balance Computer.

Gladys Bustos has been appointed business development officer at Bank of Commerce’s loan production office in Anaheim. She was previously a business-development officer with Banco Popular in Orange County and before that worked for Wilshire State Bank.

R. Wesley Burns and Margaret E. Isberg have been named managing directors for Pacific Investment Management Co., a unit of Newport Beach-based Pimco Advisors Holdings L.P. Burns, who joined Pacific Investment 12 years ago, is responsible for the Investment Operations Group. He is also the president and a trustee of the PIMCO Funds: Pacific Investment Management Series and a member of the executive committee. Isberg has been with Pacific Investment for 16 years as both portfolio manager and account manager.
