Borchard Road Speed

Share

Re the controversial Borchard Road extension.

At the risk of being naive or too elementary, does the speed limit need to be 45 mph? If the grade is too steep to meet city standards, can the city refuse to dedicate the road and leave it private? All liability would be on the developer, along with responsibility for maintenance.

If this isn’t legal, lower the speed limit on the lower downhill portion (about one-quarter mile) to 30 mph, maybe even 25 mph, and enforce it.

We can’t change the grade without significant expense, but we sure can change the speed limit.
