School Pays Tribute to Food Pantry Director
Students at Laurence 2000 this week honored the director of a local food pantry for his service to the Valley’s homeless and poor.
Jerry Rabinowitz, director of the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council’s food pantry at First Christian Church in North Hollywood, was cited by the student council for his “commitment to uplifting the lives of the neediest members of our local community.”
At a campus assembly, students presented the proceeds from a recent bake sale to Rabinowitz for use at the pantry, which is one of 20 in the Valley operated by the interfaith council.
The ceremony completed a social studies and character development program at the independent elementary school, said Lauren Wolke, a school administrator.
