Deputy Shoots Intruder During Scuffle in Garage
An intruder who entered the garage of a Covina home shared by two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies was shot and critically wounded during a scuffle, police said Tuesday.
Covina police and sheriff’s homicide officers are investigating the incident, which occurred at 6:35 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of North Oakbank Avenue, said Covina Police Lt. Kim Raney.
The suspect, who remained in critical condition at County-USC Medical Center, has yet to be identified, Raney added.
The residents, a husband and wife who are both sheriff’s deputies, confronted the suspect in their garage, police said. During an altercation, the husband fired one round from his handgun, striking the suspect in the head.
