Boeing Co. said it placed a telecommunications satellite into a lower-than-expected orbit when a Delta 3 rocket had a problem with its second-stage burn. The rocket, launched from Cape Canaveral, Fla., carried an Orion 3 satellite for Hughes Electronics Corp.’s Hughes Space & Communications unit and its customer, Loral Space & Communications Ltd. Boeing said data were being collected to assess the situation. Shares of Seattle-based Boeing rose $1 to close at $44.13 on the NYSE.
