Planning commissioners faced with a controversial proposal to extend bar hours at a restaurant learned Wednesday that the request had been abruptly withdrawn. Last month, the Planning Commission postponed action on whether to grant the extension to the Thina Nga restaurant on Beach Boulevard. Owner Nguyet Huynh, acting upon her attorney’s advice, withdrew the request to serve alcohol from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The request had sparked debate among residents at last month’s Planning Commission meeting. Critics cited concern about noise, after-hours loitering and illicit activity.
