ARIZONA SOFTBALL

* County connection: Lauren Bauer of Foothill.

* Worth noting: The sophomore left-fielder earned All-American honors last season. This year, despite early-season shoulder problems, she is batting .385 with two home runs and 24 runs batted in for the third-ranked Wildcats (42-12).

LOYOLA MARYMOUNT WOMEN’S SOCCER

* County connection: Tracy Sharp of Esperanza.

* Worth noting: A sophomore goalkeeper, Sharp has been selected as LMU’s female athlete of the year. She ranked sixth in the NCAA in goals-against average, giving up fewer than one per game. She also set school records with 70 saves and 12 1/2 shutouts.

BIOLA BASEBALL

* County connection: Jonathon Rouwenhorst of Brethren Christian.

* Worth noting: Rouwenhorst, a sophomore, is a left-handed pitcher who was chosen player of the year in the Golden State Athletic Conference. He was 9-1 with a 1.77 earned-run average, 115 strikeouts and only 27 walks. He also led the team at the plate, batting .380 with a team-high 48 runs batted in.

USC SWIMMING

* County connections: Kellie Brennan of Edison, Philippe Demers of Santa Margarita and Mark Kwok of Laguna Hills.

* Worth noting: Brennan, a freshman, won the Pac-10 women’s one-meter diving title and placed third in the three-meter event. Kwok earned men’s All-American honors as a member of the Trojans’ 800-meter freestyle relay team, which placed second at the NCAA finals. Demers, a sophomore, won the Pac-10 200 butterfly. He finished eighth in the NCAA 200 freestyle.
