Alexander Popof Joins Catellus Residential as Senior V.P.
* Alexander L. Popof has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer of Catellus Residential Group in Irvine. Before joining the company, Popof was a business and financial consultant in Omaha. He has also been chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Inverse Technology in Lincoln, Neb.; chief financial officer for both Omega Pharmaceuticals in Birmingham, Ala. and Oakwood Living Centers in McLean, Va.; chief operating officer and chief financial officer for Govvars and Associates in Newport Beach; and senior vice president of Far West Financial Corp. in Newport Beach.
* Craig Hopkins has been named vice president of franchise sales and development for CKE Restaurants Inc. in Anaheim. He will oversee franchise sales, real estate and construction of Carl’s Jr. restaurants for domestic and international development. Hopkins joined the company in 1996 as director of franchise sales and development. Before that, he was the director of franchise development for America’s Favorite Chicken Co. He also was a real estate manager, franchise manager and director of franchise for Arby’s Inc. Barbara Landis was named vice president, risk management and benefits. Landis joined CKE in 1986 as an insurance coordinator, and was promoted to manager and later director of risk management and benefits. In addition, Jeffrey Lewis was appointed regional vice president overseeing operations for the 24 Rally’s in California and Arizona and 56 Boston Market restaurants in Southern California that CKE operates through management agreements. Before joining CKE as manager of operations for the company’s Rally’s locations in 1996, Lewis was a district manager at Rally’s Hamburgers.

* Tsuneo Kuroe has been appointed executive vice president of Yamaha Corp. of America in Buena Park. Kuroe was previously senior vice president, administration and finance. He joined the company in 1996, after being with Yamaha Corp., Japan for 30 years. Terry Lewis was named senior vice president. He will continue to serve as general manager, keyboard division and industry relations spokesperson. Lewis has been with the company since 1982.
* Donald R. Welsh has joined Irvine-based Javelin Systems Inc. in Irvine as president and chief operating officer of a new subsidiary that will focus on providing enterprise-wide Internet-based solutions to the food service industry. The new company will be based in Philadelphia. Welsh most recently served as vice president and chief information officer for Aramark Corp.’s Sports and Entertainment Group.
* Susan Sears has been appointed general manager of Alcatraz Brewing Co.’s restaurant and brewery at the Block in Orange. She was previously a managing partner for PB&J; Restaurants in Kansas City, Kan. and general manager for Yia’s Yia’s Eurobistro in Witchita, Kan.
