Older Drivers

Share

I will be 83 on Oct. 16 and still driving, with a four-year license issued in 1997. I am definitely in favor of state Sen. Tom Hayden’s SB 335 (May 3). I also believe that any person over the age of 75, especially those who have some sort of disability which may affect their driving an automobile, should have a driving test more frequently than every four years.

I have found that people in my generation hate to give up their independence, and I know from personal experience, when I asked my wife to give up her license.

I have seen elderly drivers who can hardly see and are still driving.

My concern is who is going to check the driving examiners. From my experience they are not the greatest.

I hope the bill passes.
