Armand M. ‘Gene’ Lojo; Broadway Performer
Ventura resident Armand M. “Gene” Lojo died Saturday after a brief illness. He was 71.
Lojo was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He lived in the San Fernando Valley for 22 years before moving to Ventura four years ago.
He performed in several productions staged on and off-Broadway. He also did repertory theater and recently danced in the movie “Lost & Found.”
In the 1980s, Lojo and radio personality Bob Shannon created Goodtime Radio Productions, a four-man company that sought to revive radio at the time with call-in quiz games, dramas and comedy routines.
In his free time, Lojo enjoyed golf, tennis, crossword puzzles, painting and visiting with friends.
Lojo is survived by his daughter, Toni Taylor of Ventura; a sister, Nena Bartley of New York; a brother, Ben Lojo of Arizona; a granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Services are being arranged by Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
