Like its male counterpart, the USC women’s water polo team spent all season dominating the competition in its quest for the national championship.

On Sunday, the top-ranked USC women virtually followed the men’s lead in defeating Stanford, 7-6 in five overtimes, for the national championship at UC Davis.

The only difference was the score: The men defeated the Cardinal, 9-8, in the second three-minute overtime.
