Council Offers Reward in Music Producer’s Slaying

The Los Angeles City Council has agreed to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killers of a music producer during a home invasion.

Three intruders forced their way into the home recording studio of Hillery Davis on May 6, dragged him into a bedroom and fatally shot him in the chest, police said.

A 25-year-old female singer who had just auditioned for him was tied up but not injured. Neighbors heard the woman’s screams and called police.

The three escaped in the singer’s 1965 olive-green Mustang and a white Lexus they had arrived in.

A sheriff’s deputy on Sunday night found the Mustang, partially stripped and abandoned in Lynwood, said North Hollywood homicide Det. Vince Bancroft.

The singer’s custom-made engagement ring was among the items stolen. Police describe it as size 4 1/2, platinum with a square-cut, 1 1/2-carat diamond center with 12 smaller square diamonds on each side.

Two keyboards and a tape machine were among the items stolen from Davis’ home.

The singer gave police descriptions of the intruders. One was described as a man about 23 years old, 5 feet 8 and 150 pounds, with medium-brown skin, curly hair and either acne or shaving bumps on his skin. He was wearing an olive-green casual dress suit and untied yellow work boots.

A second man was described as in his early 20s, wearing cornrows, and baggy gray and black clothing.

Both men carried semiautomatic pistols.

The third intruder was described as a woman about 19 years old, with a light-brown complexion, thin face and hair slicked back in a bun. She was wearing a silver necklace, black knee-length skirt, a tight, short-sleeved black blouse, and cork-bottom platform shoes that made her appear to be about 5 feet 6.
