They produced some of the sweetest harmonies ever back when rock ‘n’ roll still had a bit of the twang of its country roots. They also had a nasty public breakup on stage at Knott’s Berry Farm in 1973. But Phil and Don--the Everly Brothers, who play their first concerts of 1999 tonight in Santa Ana and Saturday in San Juan Capistrano--eventually patched things up, at least long enough to do a little recording and performing from time to time. Their touring band includes a couple of legendary players: guitarist Albert Lee and steel-guitar great Buddy Emmons.
