County Supervisor Kathy Long announced Thursday that she will seek a second term in 2000.

Elected in 1996, Long represents the 3rd District, which includes Camarillo, Ojai, Santa Paula, Fillmore, La Conchita, Piru, Lockwood Valley and portions of Thousand Oaks.

During her first term, Long organized and led the Agricultural Policy Working Group, a panel of farmers, builders, planners and politicians that studied ways to protect Ventura County’s agricultural industry while allowing for development. Long recently worked to secure $40.5 million in state and federal money to build a juvenile justice center.

She also serves on the board of directors of the Economic Development Collaborative of Ventura County, heads the CalWORKS steering committee and serves on the site authority for the Cal State Channel Islands.
