FOUNTAIN VALLEY
A coalition of about 20 businesses will meet with police today to reduce vulnerability to crime. The coalition started in 1996 and meets every few months to discuss crime trends and address individual business concerns. Some of the most common crimes in the city are credit-card fraud and after-hours burglaries, Police Capt. Rod Gilman said. The Police Department schedules free on-site security inspections and provides tips on how to spot fake credit cards. “Crime is not a huge problem in Fountain Valley, and our goal is to keep it that way,” Gilman said. The coalition will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Safeco Insurance Co., 17570 Brookhurst St. Information: (714) 593-4456.
