The majority of the City Council now prefers “E Zone” over “The Mile” as a name for the Entertainment Corridor. The city is trying to find a name to attract visitors to a stretch of Beach Boulevard that includes Knott’s Berry Farm and Movieland Wax Museum.
In April, most council members were leaning toward the Mile, but the majority decided last week in favor of E Zone. One council member, however, said the name has improper connotations. “Teenagers associate it with the drug ecstasy, and other people associate it with the erogenous zone, so I think it’s a lousy name,” said Councilwoman Patsy Marshall, who conducted an informal survey among residents, including teens.
