A 19-year-old suspected drunk driver ran a red light and collided with a police patrol car in Anaheim early Saturday, police said.

Adam Lynn of Orange ran his 1994 Nissan 200SX through a red light at Ball Road and Knott Avenue about 1:45 a.m., Anaheim Police Sgt. Jack Sharkey said.

As Lynn entered the intersection, Sgt. Tim Miller, who had the right of way, crashed his patrol car into the Nissan, causing enough damage that both vehicles may be beyond repair, Sharkey said.

Two passengers in Lynn’s car were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Eric Brown, 26, was treated for a broken ankle. Hospital officials said they could not release information about the other passenger, who is 17, because he is a minor.

Miller was reportedly “stiff and sore” after the crash but otherwise uninjured, Sharkey said.

Lynn was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released. He was then arrested and booked on suspicion of drunk driving.
