Grants Available to Nonprofit Groups

Share

The Ventura County Community Foundation has a total of $55,000 in grant money ready to give away to 10 nonprofit groups.

Organizations interested in applying for a grant must send a representative to a one-hour conference Tuesday or Wednesday at the foundation’s office at 1317 Del Norte Road.

“It’s a time to find out if you want to apply. People can ask questions and go through their application with a fine-tooth comb,” said Gail Brown, the foundation’s program director.

Applications for the 1999 Community Need Response Fund must be received at the foundation’s office by 5 p.m. June 16.

The grant money comes from a $1-million endowment given to the foundation by Haas Automation in Oxnard.

Nonprofit groups that are selected must complete a five-month class before receiving one of the $5,500 grants, Brown said.

During the class, participants will plan strategies specifically geared for nonprofit organizations, including how to improve volunteer recruitment and increase donations.
