State May Retract Nichols Trial Funds
From Times Wire Reports
The state Legislature in Oklahoma City has voted to withdraw money set aside for the trial of Oklahoma bombing conspirator Terry L. Nichols and spend it instead on helping victims of this month’s deadly tornadoes. Lawmakers said the action reflected misgivings about putting Nichols on trial again, the state’s tight budget and the need to help victims of the May 3 twisters that killed 44 people and damaged or destroyed nearly 7,000 homes in Oklahoma. Nichols is serving a life sentence.
