LOS ALAMITOS
Los Alamitos School District Supt. Michael Miller will take a new post on July 1. He has accepted a job as a superintendent of the 14,000-student Covina-Valley Unified School District. Miller, who has been superintendent of the Los Alamitos district since 1986, led the drive to approve the Measure K school bond issue and helped create the Orange County High School of the Arts as well as day-care centers at elementary and middle schools.
He began his career in Los Alamitos as principal of Hopkinson Elementary School in 1975. He also served as Los Alamitos Elementary School principal for three years before becoming an assistant superintendent in 1980 and then superintendent.
