Residents unable to take hazardous waste to the proper disposal sites can now have the materials picked up at their frontdoor.

Senior citizens and disabled adults can have household hazardous wastes such as used motor oil, antifreeze and pesticides collected from their house by the city.

Placentia recently received more than $28,000 from the California Integrated Waste Management Board for the door-to-door collection program.

Eric Lamoureux, spokesman for the board, said the purpose of the grant is to help people who are unable to leave or have a difficult time leaving the house.

“We wanted to make sure folks who can’t get away or reach a permanent facility are able to dispose of their waste items,” Lamoureux said. Information: (800) HHW-PKUP.
