New L.A. Principal at Blackshaw

* Charles Newman has joined the Los Angeles office of executive search firm Blackshaw, Olmstead, Lynch & Koenig as managing principal. Newman most recently was senior vice president of human resources at Airport Group International Inc., an affiliate of Lockheed Martin Corp. and Soros Capital.

* Walt Disney Co. named Chris Montan as president of Walt Disney Music, a new position to oversee music for animated movies, stage productions and other operations. Montan, a music executive and producer for Walt Disney Studios for the last 15 years, also will oversee music for video premieres, musical event programming for “The Wonderful World of Disney” and theme-park-related shows.

Montan has worked closely with the Burbank-based company since the early 1980s. Most recently, he was producer of the 1997 television musical production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” and executive producer of “Annie,” which will air on Disney’s ABC-TV network Sunday. He will report to Peter Schneider, president of Walt Disney Studios.
