The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve amendments to its contract with the Orange County Fire Authority.

Council members approved three changes to the contract: requiring a two-thirds majority vote by member cities to approve an amendment instead of a unanimous majority; requiring Fire Authority members to sign a 10-year contract instead of a year-to-year agreement; and requiring the Fire Authority board to review the equity of services that cities receive for their taxpayers’ revenue.

The Fire Authority, formed in the wake of the Orange County bankruptcy, provides fire protection and prevention to 19 cities and unincorporated areas.
