Hobie Beach and Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park are considered unsafe for swimming because water samples collected this week indicate that water levels do not meet state quality standards, according to the Ventura County Environmental Health Division.
Signs warning people to stay out of the water have been posted at the two beaches. No one should enter the water for at least 50 yards on either side of the signs, health officials said.
Surfers Point, near the terminus of the Ventura River, has been deemed safe for swimming and signs warning swimmers to stay out of the water are being removed.
Weekly beach testing occurs at 53 sites in Ventura County and results can be obtained by calling the county ocean water quality hotline at (805) 662-6555 or visiting the Web site at www.ventura.org/env--hlth/ocean.htm.
