Joey Galloway, who has sat out the season in a contract dispute with the Seattle Seahawks, will report to the team on Monday, according to a broadcast report.

Fox Sports News said the receiver would return to the team so he can spend the minimum 30 days on the roster necessary for this to count as a full season. It would give him five full seasons and make him eligible for free agency, if the Seahawks don’t label him their franchise player.

Seattle is 5-2 without Galloway in the lineup.

Denver quarterback Chris Miller will make his first start in four years Sunday at San Diego when he replaces injured Brian Griese.

Griese won’t start the game against the Chargers because of a sore shoulder, but he is expected to back up Miller.

Bronco Coach Mike Shanahan made the change after Griese’s shoulder limited his throwing ability during Friday’s practice.

“He started and he really had a pretty good practice but I could just tell by his throwing motion on some of the deeper routes that he is gutting it out,” Shanahan said. “I think we’d put him in a real tough situation.”

Bubby Brister is also unavailable because of a strained oblique muscle and a knee injury.

Miller, 33, retired after the 1995 season because of a series of concussions, but came out of retirement in April.

“I am looking forward to playing, obviously not at the expense of those guys being injured, but it’s nice to get a chance to play,” Miller said. “When you’re the third guy, you’re a long ways away from playing time.”

Bronco wide receiver Rod Smith, who briefly played quarterback his junior year at Southern Missouri, will be the emergency quarterback.

Shanahan also put wide receiver Ed McCaffrey (knee) on the inactive list for Sunday’s game.

The Chicago Bears will be without quarterback Shane Matthews and receiver Curtis Conway for Sunday’s game against the Packers at Green Bay.

Matthews is sidelined because of a pulled hamstring, so Cade McNown will get another start. Last Sunday he completed 23 of 40 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns in relief of Matthews.

Conway, Chicago’s top receiving threat, has sat out the last three games because of an ankle injury.
