* Re “Freeh’s Praise of Prosecutors Raises White House Eyebrows,” Nov. 2: Isn’t it strange that Atty. Gen. Janet Reno takes all the flak when the FBI screws up while Louis Freeh, the fearless lawman who heads up the bureau, gets accolades for his generous support of [former independent counsel] Ken Starr, et al.

Maybe if the media held Freeh accountable for his office he’d be too busy to run around politicking for possible future benefits.

* In your article, we get a report on how Freeh has been going out of his way to publicly praise opponents of President Clinton such as Starr, [outgoing independent counsel] David M. Barrett and [former federal prosecutor] Charles LaBella and how he went public in his denunciation of the president’s grant of clemency to the Puerto Rican terrorists. Thus Freeh gives new meaning to the word “disloyalty.”

It is not surprising that the mindless Clinton hater, Jonathan Turley, finds Freeh’s behavior admirable. Turley is as ugly an operative as Freeh.
