Marion Sharp McHenry died Saturday at her home in Ventura after a brief illness. She was 75.

McHenry taught elementary school in the San Fernando Valley until she retired in the late 1960s to become a homemaker, said her daughter Lisa Brown, 42, of Ojai.

McHenry enjoyed ceramics, quilting and traveling with her family, friends and neighbors. She was also a longtime member of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

“She was just a very good-hearted, happy person,” Brown said. “She loved her family and her grandchildren and her friends.”

McHenry was born Jan. 5, 1924, in Imperial and lived in Ventura County for 18 years. She attended college at the University of Redlands, Brown said.

She is survived by Brown and another daughter, Melinda Pemberton of Oak View; brother Bill Sharp of North Hills; four grandchildren; and companion Ed McCasalin of Ventura. McHenry was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, in 1995.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, with the Rev. Dan Stevens of Eastminster Presbyterian Church officiating.
