LAGUNA WOODS

The city should respect Aliso Viejo’s original boundaries and not try to annex a small residential portion, the Planning Advisory Committee decided at its Friday meeting.

In a cramped room in city offices, the committee discussed what to do with one of two swatches of land in neighboring unincorporated Aliso Viejo that Laguna Hills said it intends to annex.

If Laguna Hills did succeed in annexing the northern portion of land, which is east of Moulton Parkway and north of Laguna Hills Drive, its border with Laguna Woods would be messy, Laguna Woods City Manager Leslie Keane said.

She asked the committee to consider recommending Laguna Woods take the land for itself.

The City Council will consider the committee recommendation when it discusses the issue at its Nov. 17 meeting.
