Stock Divestment
Re “L.A. Teachers Want Pension Fund to Dump Tobacco Stocks,” Nov. 3: I support those teachers who are against owning stocks in companies that encourage kids to smoke. Should they, at the same time, demand that the California State Teachers Retirement System also dump any stock it owns in companies that might very well be the among the world’s largest purveyors of pornography? I would think that that list might include Internet biggies such as AOL, Prodigy, CompuServ, PacBell and Earthlink.
