Couple Sentenced for Beating 3-Year-Old
A North Hills couple were sentenced to four years and eight months in state prison Wednesday for beating the woman’s 3-year-old son and locking him in a bathroom without lights or water for two days, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Elva Stella Huicho, 28, and her husband, Octavio Alberto Huicho, 23, pleaded no contest Wednesday in San Fernando Superior Court to charges of child abuse and false imprisonment by violence, said Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
The boy, who lived at the Huichos’ home in the 8900 block of Burnet Avenue, “was forced to kneel over feces and urine was poured over his head,” Gibbons said.
The couple were arrested Aug. 22 after a neighbor tipped off police about the abuse and police rescued the boy. He is now in foster care, Gibbons said.
